Overall info regarding regarding the company, process, crew and boats.
WHY DID YOU START PATRIOT FIN? We wanted to show gratitude and honor our veteran's and Gold Star families. It is our privilege to do this and we are thankful for each and every trip we get to take, veteran we meet and memory we make.
CAPTAINS & CREW. We only allow US Coast Guard licensed Captains to operate our boats and trips. Most deckhands are local volunteers.
BOATS. We currently have 2 in our fleet and access to additional private boats. We run a Parker 2801 powered by twin Yamaha 300 HP engines and Parker 2820 (Pilot Houser) also powered by Yamaha 300,s. Both boats are similarly equipped with Garmin electronics, GPS anchoring systems and outriggers. These are modern, comfortable fishing machines.
BOOKING A TRIP. Most of our trips come through other Veteran groups and organizations. If you are interested in a putting a trip together email us @ info@patriotfin.org and we can start the process of planning a trip. .
SALTWATER FISHING TRIPS
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NEARSHORE AND OFFSHORE? There are a lot of opinions in the saltwater fishing world. At PatriotFin we consider anything within 3 nautical miles of the beach to be NEARSHORE and anything past 3 miles to be OFFSHORE.
WHAT SPECIES DO YOU TARGET? We follow the bite and look for action mainly. We will target species that are available and in season. For example, Red Snapper and Gag Grouper. Our goal is fun and action.
CAN WE SHARK FISH? We don't specifically target sharks, however most trips we are visited by them and more often than not we will "hook-up" unintentionally. We will allow a good fight but we do not kill or keep sharks.
TIPPING? These are free trips, no tip is expected. However, Deckhands are volunteers and would appreciate it. ANY tip or donation given to the Captain will be used to fund another trip.
GOT SPECIAL NEEDS? We can accommodate most individuals. Just communicate with us and we will do our best to work through it.
SEA SICKNESS. The gulf has currents, rip-tides and most of the time waves with consistent intervals. If you are prone to motion-sickness, we recommend finding a OTC motion sickness medicine that is right for you. There are also prescription treatments available through your doctor.
